Blossoms of Being; The feminine experience explored through art and flora

Can the essence of womanhood be captured through petals, paint, and purpose?

This exhibition journal set out to explore exactly that. By capturing the stages of a woman’s life through art and flora, I delved into the connections between growth, beauty, resilience, and the feminine experience. As the sole creative force behind this project, I wore every hat—from concept development and design to layout, art direction, floral design, photography and final production.

Every Choice has a meaning.

1. Cultivating a Vision The concept for this exhibition journal grew from a desire to capture the layered, evolving stages of womanhood. Selecting five female artists, each representing a unique life stage—germinate, sprout, bloom, fruit, and seed—I crafted a narrative arc that resonates with the beauty and complexity of the feminine experience. As my major project assessment, this exhibition journal needed to embody who I am as a designer and convey a story I am passionate about telling 2. Blossoming the Aesthetic I was born to a horticulturist mother from a nursery background and a landscaper father from agricultural heritage, chlorophyll runs through my veins. It was only natural that botanical symbolism became the heart of the visual language. Each stage was paired with floral motifs and a distinct color palette, guiding readers through an organic, garden-like journey. 3. Designing the Layout The layout reflects a natural flow, allowing each life stage to transition seamlessly to the next. A blend of modern and classic typography grounds the journal in tradition while inviting innovation, creating a harmonious progression. Every element—each floral motif, artist, and artwork—was chosen and crafted with intention, adding layers of meaning to the journal and reflecting a thoughtful design process that celebrates the depth of the feminine experience. 4. Refining the Details Through iterative refinements, I balanced coherence and individuality, ensuring that each page turn felt distinct yet interconnected, maintaining a narrative flow that celebrates each phase. 5. A Journey in Bloom The final journal is a tribute to womanhood—a journey of identity, growth, and legacy through art and nature, inviting readers to reflect on their own stages and the beauty within each.
